When you Pledge your Allegiance
Tiffany February 4, 2020 Rant (6) Comments

One of the first things I remember learning in church when I was a child was that one should never pledge their allegiance to anything but God or the lord. Yet, the same people would pledge and show allegiance to the flag, the country, and different political figures. I remember being very bothered by this as a child because the same people telling me in the church not to do this, was the same telling me to do it. Why was one thing okay but the other not?

Until recently it wasn’t something that I really thought about until I started seeing posts social media that showed “Christians” comparing the cheeto to Jesus. They call him a savior and worship him. These are the same people who will throw the bible at you when you aren’t who they want you to be, they are the same who say they go to church and follow the bible yet they break one of the most important parts of what it means to worship. If you worship or split your time between god/the lord and a false idol than you can not truly worship God or the lord. The bible is very clear about that.

It just this is something that really bothers me, when people who claim to love and follow God, but the truth is the complete opposite. My home town is a small place in the south, the bible belt, and it’s sad to think about because when I do I think it’s obviously filled with cheeto fangirl/boys and bigots. Since in reality it should be the opposite. Then they shouldn’t follow someone so opposite of Jesus Christ or show them their allegiance.

I was thinking about talking about all the ways that cheeto does literally the opposite of what Jesus would have, but I really shouldn’t have to because it’s so obvious and clear. From how differently they treat women, the poor, the government, and immigration. I mean because the truth is that you can’t possibly be a believer or a Christian if you vote for cheeto, or support him in any way. Also, since these are the same people who throw their bible and their misinterpretations around that you can’t misinterpret this, in the Ten Commandments is say very clearly “I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have any strange gods before Me.” That straight-up forbids all types of worship against false idols, that includes the flag, the country, and the pos living in the white house.

I don’t like to talk about religion but I feel like this is an important subject matter, if only to know that when the same people who preach about Christian Values and then turn around and parade around for cheeto than they are just lying. So, when someone says that they are Christian but not only pledge their allegiance to everything else including cheeto than they don’t worship Jesus or God. I think it’s important to point out the hypocrisy and to know that you can call this out.

When you heard them say I want a leader who is for my Christian values and who will be a savior to the country, you can know they are full of bullshit and call them out if you want. “What Christian values are you talking about?” if they say anything it will be easily debunked, that’s if they don’t realize they can’t say anything. Especially since that man is so far from any Christian values and when people claim that he is that it’s almost laughable, as he is a liar, cheater, and someone who steals. Then “How can he be your savior when that is supposed to be Jesus? Is he your false idol?” again with this one, they can’t logically argue with it. However, don’t rule out that stupid people will make up the most ridiculous arguments, and they always say you can’t argue with an idiot.

I think this is good information to know even if your not or was never a Christian. Especially, in this political climate, and the upcoming election, since even if some of yall might not be in the United States, things like this affect the earth.

I try to stay away from religious conversations because certain topics can get very sensitive. Though the irony is that the country is founded with religious beliefs. I’m just going to leave it at that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

I try not to bring up religious topics. In my view, God is the energy that is all around us and we ourselves. Religious people unfortunately often interpret the Bible in their favor and use it as it is convenient for them

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it was really interesting to read as someone who wasn’t brought up with a massively religious background x

One of the reasons that I struggle with the concept of organized religion is exactly what you outlined here. So many people claim to follow a specific religion or set of beliefs only to alter and change the rules, or simply pick and choose with they need to follow. It’s so incredibly hypocritical when you consider that most religions are supposed to be based on the idea of love first and foremost.

I’m not religious at all. I consider myself to be a “spiritual” person, so to speak. I, too, find the hypocrisies of these so called Christians to be astounding, especially with all that they preach to others, while blindly following those people whose values don’t align with their Christian ones. Traditional values seem to be in sync with Christianity for some of them. I suppose in some way it makes sense in their minds, even when they’re blatantly disrespecting their own religion by partaking in things that their religious specifically tells them not to do.
