In a time of so much destruction and chaos and the war against women and people who are oppressed we have another battle. The battles are never-ending, and they are trying because you can’t allow the people who hate and hurt you to win. You hear other ask why do you fight so much, and why do you try? No one will do it for us, especially with people who are sided with such a violent force who want to hurt us, we can’t stop or they will win.

We have someone in the white house right now who has been accused of raping a child, and this has been known for years. This is the same person nominating someone who has been accused of violence and rape against women to make laws for women. These women spoke out and told and they have been backed. Yet, we have a government moving forward with a nomination of a person who is a threat to not only the women of the United States but all women. If that isn’t a war, I don’t know what is.

The facts and statistics of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment are clear, most of these are not reported ever. So, why are we acting surprised and like it’s not real when people who haven’t reported speak out about their real-life experiences. Not only do people prove that what happens to women doesn’t matter to them unless it affects them personally. This only shows that it proves that they don’t understand and they don’t care, you can talk until you are blue in the face about what you went through but it doesn’t matter because they can’t and will never go through what you did.

Men and especially white men will never wonder about that male walking close to you, if they reject them will you get killed, or the many other microaggressions that happen daily to women. That is not to say we don’t have allies who are males, because we do and they are great, but not enough men stick up or support women. The ones who do are not seen as real men because of toxic masculinity. This has to change.

Most of the other women and girls in my life have been raped, assaulted, or harrassed sexual, I can count on my hands the ones I either don’t know about or haven’t. Yet, these people who hurt us are respected and if we speak out against them we are the ones blamed, we are the ones hated, we are the ones humiliated, we are the ones shamed. We are the ones who are reliving what happened to us. This is why so many don’t report. Since who would believe even the nicest girl against the nice guy or even bad guy?

So, many of my friends and people I know have posted about how #metoo and #whyididntreport applied to them. I was never raped, I do want to be clear about that, I was sexually assaulted and harassed. One of the people who did that was someone who was very well respected, and high ranking, I wanted to report, but I was told that what happened to me wasn’t a big deal. I’ve been stalked twice, but that wasn’t taken seriously.

I want change, I need change, and if we are fighting for it, then we will stay in the same shitty existence. We can’t be complacent, be can’t stay silent or the evil in this world wins.
